Events at the Museum
Whether it's a Christmas carriage ride on a cold wintery night or a close up visit with one of the area's many alligators, there's always something going on at the Museum.

Most events are open to the public while special educational events help bring the Museum to the youngsters of Southeast Texas.

Featured Exhibits
The Museum hosts three Popular Culture galleries featuring notable personalities of the Gulf Coast. The Music Hall of Fame features more than 60 music legends representing a wide array of genres. The Sports Legends Gallery highlights more than 60 athletes. Finally, the Notable People Gallery highlights 35 individuals who have achieved national and/or international recognition in a professional endeavor.
Halls of Fame
What you see on exhibit at the Museum is only the tip of the iceberg. The Museum has more than 35,000 items, many of which are rarely on display.
The Museum collects photographs, documents, and physical objects representing the biology and history of the Gulf Coast region ranging from prehistorict to present.

Education & Outreach
The Museum displays a wide range of exhibits including history, natural history, and decorative art.
Highlights include the largest indoor mural in Texas, 13-foot taxidermy alligator, Texas State Record flounder, 18th Century Spanish anchor, the original fresnel lens of the Sabine Banks lighthouse, rare books and cartography, decorative glass, shell collection of 7,500 items, among many other items.
