WHERE PRE-HISTORY AND POP CULTURE MEET

     Robert Troy Kimball graduated from Vinton High School where he played football and ran track.  He attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He sang with the Levee Band and other groups before moving to Los Angeles in 1974 to three members from the defunct band, Three Dog Night.  The new band, S.S. Fools, soon split up and Kimball was asked by David Paich and Jeff Porcaro, to join the five session musicians to form Toto. Kimball submitted a self-penned audition song for the band, "You Are the Flower", which was included on their debut album. Kimball performed on the first four studio albums by Toto and sang on Billboard hits "Roseanna" and "Africa." Other recordings include "Toto" (gold and platinum record), "Hydra" (gold record), and "Toto IV" (gold record).

     After being fired from Toto in 1984, Bobby Kimball relocated to Germany for a solo career and continued to work as a session singer, singing background vocals with a trio composed of Michael McDonald from The Doobie Brothers and Bill Champlin of Chicago.  Kimball also performed various Toto songs from over the years and in 1998, he rejoined Toto until the band split up in 2008.  Since that time, Kimball has been touring and doing concerts with many of his friends' bands, recording a progressive rock album with former Yes members, and touring in Ireland and South America.

In May 2014, in Genoa, at the FIM - Fiera Internazionale della Musica, Kimball obtained from the director of the event Verdiano Vera, the FIM Award 2014 - Legend of Rock - Best Voice.

     In February 2015, he represented the United States at the LVI International Song Festival in Viña del Mar, Chile, with the song "Living Your Life for Happiness".
